The other day I asked a good friend of mine if she would do a write up for a post on this blog about on "mind and body". She said, "of course I will just after I get over the pain in my back". It seems she fell and hurt her back and was letting nature take its course in healing it. Since I have back issues I said to her, "have you tried an hydroculator"? And she said, "what is that"?
I found out about this miraculous device years ago when my back went out and I literally couldn't walk. A physical therapist used it on me and together with Motrin got me from bent over at a 45-degree angle to straight up and down. For me this little device is no short of a miracle. There has only been one other person who knew what this was and so I thought I would share it with you. I've given one to my son in law, shared one with a friend last summer, and to be truthful, it was the first conversation I had with my now husband who was suffering from back pain when I first met him.
So, what is it? Long story short, moist heat. It's a canvas pack that is filled with some sort of clay. You throw it in a pot with water, bring the water to a boil, and let it stay in the boiling water a few minutes and take out carefully. I use tongs to lift it out of pot. Lay on a towel, wrap up like an envelope and put on your back. Make sure it's not too hot. If it is, add another layer of towel.
Needless to say, this can be used on a shoulder or neck or wherever you are experiencing pain. Works on arthritis too. This, a couple of Motrin's and some bed rest always gets me moving again. Try it, you have nothing to lose but relief!
